For the upcoming Escape from Azkaban party that we will be hosting in October, we are including a ‘Divination Classroom’ in the party. Of course, divination balls will be needed! Tutorial on the divination balls below…

This was a REALLY simple project that was knocked out in a couple of days (to factor in dry time).

I have hyperlinked some of the supplies for ease of finding them.

Supplies:

Spray Paint (color of your choice to paint the base)

6″ roll of tulle or similar (color of your choice to fill ball)

Instructions:

Spray Paint the PVC caps. As the ball itself is clear, you will want to paint both the inside and outside of the cap, letting one side dry before flipping the caps over and painting the other side.

As I used to make tutu skirts and had a TON of excess tulle in my craft room, I chose to use tulle to make the ‘smoky’ divination ball interior. Organza or any other filler will suffice. We made our balls different colors for a reason (to be revealed after the party)… The silver glittery color is my favorite.

Open the ornament balls and put in a length of tulle. I just ‘eyeballed’ how much was needed. It really depends if you prefer a richer color or a smoky and translucent look.

Lace the string of fairy lights within the tulle. The battery pack should stick out the bottom when you close back up the ornament. The wire of these lights is thin enough that the ball will still close without problem. The battery pack sits in the base of the divination ball.

Voila! You have a glowing divination ball!
